Parchment2 began as a single handwritten list: one editor, one notebook, entries copied from site to site until there were enough to warrant a proper index. That index became the first edition of Parchment2 — a directory arranged like a trade almanac, with each site entered under the section that best described its business.
The register now holds 834 sites across 22 sections. Every section name is drawn from the language of the counting-house and the printer's trade: Wagering & Sporting Broadside, Builder's Pattern Book, Trade & Industry Register, and so on. The names are chosen not for novelty but for precision, so that a reader consulting the directory knows at a glance what they will find in each section.
Submission to Parchment2 is open to any site in good standing. There is no fee and no reciprocal link required. Entries are reviewed by an editor before being set into the register. We do not list sites that are incomplete, deceptive, or otherwise unsuitable for a public directory.
The directory is updated as new submissions arrive. If your site has changed category or you need to correct an entry, use the contact form. We aim to keep the register accurate and useful for anyone who consults it.
